Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin does not rule out participation of the United States in the Normandy Format (Ukraine, Germany, France, and the Russian Federation).
Minister Klimkin announced this at a news briefing, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"The United States is ready to further participate in efforts to get Russia implement the Minsk agreements. In which form? This can be in a form of a separate dimension closely coordinated with the Normandy Format, there is an option of parallel involvement of the USA in some elements of the coordination in the frames of the Normandy Format. This is what we are discussing now," he said.
According to him, as soon as the consultations with participation of Germany and France are over and as soon as it is decided in which form the USA will join the negotiations it will become possible to start preparations for the meeting of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and President of the United States Donald Trump.
He says the Ukrainian party is in close contact with the team of the newly elected president of France Emmanuel Macron.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed his readiness to cooperate with Ukraine for peaceful settlement of the Donbas conflict.
The United States highlights its support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
