The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (OSCE SMM) will limit its patrols in Donbas until the clearing of mines from territories begins.

Alexander Hug, the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine's deputy chief monitor, announced this at a news briefing, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Hug added that the OSCE SMM would continue to limit its work for as long as the Joint Center on Control and Coordination of issues related to the ceasefire regime and the stabilization of the situation on the line of contact in the Donbas (JCCC) continued not to perform its tasks regarding the overall mine-clearing work stipulated in the Trilateral Contact Group's decision dated March 3, 2016.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the headquarters of the Ukrainian government's antiterrorist operation recently said that it would take 10 to 15 years to clear mines from Donbas
