The USD 1.5 billion that was frozen in bank accounts belonging to former president Viktor Yanukovych and his associates has been transferred into the State Treasury Service's accounts after a court authorized the government to confiscate the money.
Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko announced this on his Facebook page, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
According to Lutsenko, these funds would weigh 15 tons if issued in 100-dollar bills into.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Kramatorsk municipal court (Donetsk region) authorized the government to confiscate USD 1.5 billion in bank accounts of Yanukovych and his associates.
