President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has reassured President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko that his country will never be involved in the conflict against Ukraine.

President Poroshenko announced this during joint visit with President Lukashenko to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Kyiv region on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"I have been firmly reassured by the President of Belarus that no one will ever embroil Belarus in a war against Ukraine. Peaceful people of Belarus and an experienced and honorable President Alexander Lukashenko will not allow that," Poroshenko said.

President Poroshenko emphasized that Ukraine highly values friendship and cooperation with Belarus.

President Lukashenko confirmed to the press President Proshenko's statement.

"Who can separate us? Nobody! Pyotr Alekseyevich [President Petro Poroshenko], I want to say in public to You that this is out of the question that Belarusians can act a way different to the way they are acting now. We are the family, we can come to you on a tractor and help till the land if necessary. You help us and our countrymen help you. We will work for the sake of peace. We have no other goal," President Lukashenko said.

President Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus will do its utmost for the sake of peace and good relations with Ukraine.

"We will follow the course of friendship, of mutual cooperation. We will always live as good neighbors - neighbors are not chosen, they are given by God. So be sure that Belarusians were and will always be reliable friends," he added.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in February 2017, President Petro Poroshenko said he was confident that President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus will not allow using the territory of his country for unfriendly actions against Ukraine.
