The State Motor Roads Agency Ukravtodor says 30% of roads repaired in 2016 is not complying with technical specifications expected after repairs.

Acting head of Ukravtodor Slawomir Nowak announced this at a sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"We have accomplished inspections of all roads [repaired in] 2016. Close to 30% is not complying with technical specifications. Obligation of contracting organizations is to eliminate all defects... They have time within guarantee services till end of May to eliminate all technical defects," he said.

According to him, in the frames of a new concept of road construction and repair quality control no money will be paid to contracting organizations before the state research and technical inspectorate of road products approves reports on construction and repair of roads.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said the new approach is a correct one and contracting organizations should eliminate all defects at their own expense.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has ordered the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Ukravtodor state agency on motor roads to examine the state of roads that were repaired in 2016 after the winter.
