The Finance Ministry of Ukraine has decided to check reimbursement of the value added tax for 2016.

Finance Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Danyliuk announced this at a news briefing, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Then we will closely study the register for 2016 and will study the figures of 2017. We will check every bill, because someone has to bear responsibility," he said.

He says the Finance Ministry selected 100 companies in 2016 to study the correctness of VAT reimbursement.

"Without any good reasons the State Fiscal Service lowered sums of VAT refund. On 72 companies the sum of lowered VAT refund made UAH 3.2 billion... Ten companies could not get VAT refund for more than 100 days," he said.

Meantime, 34 companies of the said 100 were receiving VAT refund free of turn.

The Minister says that the new register has been commissioned. The new register removes any possibility of violations regarding VAT reimbursement.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 1, 2017, the Finance Ministry launched test operation of the electronic register of applications for VAT reimbursement.

In January 2017, the Cabinet of Ministers endorsed the order of keeping the uniform register of requests for value added tax refunds.

The volume of reimbursement of the value added tax increased 40% in 2016 over 2015, to UAH 94.3 billion.
