Monetary Base Down 1.3% In March To UAH 356.9 Billion

In March 2017, the monetary base, which includes hard money in circulation off banks, banks' reserve money and other money, according to current data from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), decreased 1.3% from UAH 361.483 billion on March 1 to UAH 361.483 billion on March 1 to UAH 356.914 billion on April 1.

The National Bank of Ukraine announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Monetary aggregate (M3), which includes the amount of cash in circulation off banks (M0), deposits forming part of the monetary aggregate, and securities other than shares, forming part of the monetary aggregate, increased 1.3% from 1,060.049 billion on March 1 to UAH 1,074.1 billion on April 1.

Since January 1, 2017, the monetary aggregate decreased 2.6% from UAH 1,102.7 billion.

According to the current data of the National Bank, the amount of cash in circulation decreased 0.2% from UAH 291.6 billion on March 1 to UAH 290.9 billion on April 1.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, monetary base, which includes hard money in circulation off banks, banks' reserve money and other money, according to current data from the NBU, increased 13.6% from UAH 336 billion as of January 1, 2016, to UAH 381.575 billion as of January 1, 2017.

Monetary aggregate (M3), which includes the amount of cash in circulation off banks (M0), deposits forming part of the monetary aggregate, and securities other than shares, forming part of the monetary aggregate, increased by 10.8% in 2016, from UAH 994.062 billion as of January 1, 2016 to UAH 1,101.641 billion as of January 1, 2017.
