NBU Expecting IMF Mission In May

The National Bank of Ukraine expects a mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to arrive in May.

Deputy Chair of the NBU Dmytro Solohub has told this to the press, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The mission for the next review is expected in May," he said.

Last time the IMF mission worked in Ukraine between November 3 and 17, 2016.

Based on the results of the last mission's visit, the IMF urged Ukrainian authorities to adopt the 2017 state budget agreed with the cooperation program.

The mission also reported that Ukrainian authorities needed more time to implement current segment of the cooperation program.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 11, 2015, the IMF approved the crediting program for economy of Ukraine using the EFF (Extended Fund Facility) program worth the total of USD 17.5 billion for the period of four years.

The first tranche worth USD 5 billion was received in March 2015, the second one worth USD 1.7 billion in August 2015, the third one worth USD 1 billion in September 2016 and the fourth tranche for USD 1 billion was received in April 2017.

Ukraine hopes to obtain three more tranches from the IMF for USD 4.5 billion this year.
