Chair of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeriya Hontareva decides to resign from May 10.
She said this at a press-conference, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
She added that if the Verkhovna Rada supports her resignation, she is ready to quit earlier.
The Verkhovna Rada appointed Hontareva as the head of the central bank in June 2014.
Hontareva became the first female head of the NBU in the history of independent Ukraine.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, under effective legislation, head of the central bank is dismissed and appointed by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine under respective proposal of the President of Ukraine.
