Energy Commission Cancels Decision To Introduce Fee For Gas Infrastructure Use From April

The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission cancelled its decision to introduce fee for use of gas infrastructure from April 1.

Respective decision was taken at the Monday meeting of the Commission, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 28, 2017, the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utility Services set tariffs for gas distribution as a payment for connected capacity for the population and industrial enterprises.

The new rates are in fact fees for connection to the gas distribution system paid on a monthly basis depending on counter capacity and regardless actual gas consumption.

Newly imposed tariffs, at their core, are a consumer regular fee for connection to the gas distribution system and are charged on monthly basis in the amount that depends on the capacity of the counter and regardless to the actual gas volume that had been consumed.

According to the commission, this consumer fee per a counter of the most common type (a G4-type mounted for 54% of overall gas consumers and that serves approximately 80% of gas volume consumed in the country) will be about UAH 92 per month.

On April 3, 2017, Energy Commission Chairperson Dmytro Vovk said the Commission intended to suspend the date of imposition of fees for use of gas infrastructure for consumers with the smallest gas counters G1.6 (consumers using gas for cooking process).

On April 4, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said the introduction of monthly fees for use of gas infrastructure should be suspended.
