The Kyiv City State Administration has announced about the transfer of celebration of the Europe Day in Kyiv from May 20 to May 14 to be celebrated within the Eurovision International Song Contest-2017. The authority has provided this information upon request of Ukrainian News Agency. The festivities will include the official opening ceremony, playing traditional for European countries musical works, a concert program and the European City entertainment facility at the square. The European Day is celebrated in accordance with the decree dated April 19, 2003 of President of Ukraine that designates the annual celebration date as a third Saturday of May, which in 2017 falls on May 20. However, this year, in the period of May 3 - 13, Kyiv will host the Eurovision-2017 with 43 country participants that confirmed their participation. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government Office for Matters of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration asked the Cabinet of Ministers and President Petro Poroshenko to transfer celebration of the European Day from May 20 to May 14.
