Klimkin Condemns Damage Of Hungarian Flag In Berehove, Zakarpattia Region

Foreign Affairs Minister Pavlo Klimkin has condemned the damage of a Hungarian flag in Berehove, Zakarpattia region.

Klimkin issued the condemnation on Twitter, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"I regretfully learned about the damage of a Hungarian flag near Berehove. I strongly condemn this act of vandalism," he wrote.

Klimkin also wrote that the government was doing everything possible to find the perpetrators.

Klimkin later said that he considered the incident a provocation.

"It seems that Russia has taken up our friendly relations with Hungary after unsuccessful attempts to spoil Ukrainian-Polish relations. We are opposing provocations together," he wrote.

He did not give further details.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Foreign Affairs Ministry has expressed surprise at Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjen's call for creation of autonomies for Hungarian minorities in neighboring countries.
