Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and Russian President Vladimir Putin call for resumption of negotiations of foreign affairs ministries in the Normandy Format (with the participation of representatives of Ukraine, Germany, Russia and France) at the earliest possible time.
Press service of the Russian Presidential Administration has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The leaders of the said two countries discussed the escalation in the southeast of Ukraine.
Putin and Merkel called for immediate restoration of the ceasefire regime and backed further enhancement of the Special Monitoring Mission of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in Donbas.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini states that the Normandy Format work is continued to settle the Donbas conflict.
