Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko has said that 2,200 Ukrainian prisoners have been forcibly transferred to Russia to serve their prison sentences.

Lutsenko was speaking to reporters in The Hague, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"2,200 Ukrainian prisoners in prisons and detention centers were forcibly taken to the territory of Russia to serve their sentences. This is prohibited by international law," he said.

In addition, according to him, 72,766 Russian citizens have arrived on the territory of the Crimea, which is also prohibited by international law.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has protested against the transfer of Ukrainian prisoners from the Russia-annexed Crimea to Russia.
