Court On November 24 To Decide On Possibility Of Questioning Yanukovych Via Video Link

The Sviatoshynskyi District Court of Kyiv on November 24 will decide on the possibility of questioning former President Viktor Yanukovych via video link.

Presiding Judge Serhii Diachuk said this at a sitting on Tuesday, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The Sviatoshynskyi District Court has received a notice from the Rostov Region Court of Russia stating that the questioning of Yanukovych via video link has been prepared.

November 21, the Sviatoshynskyi District Court tested the videoconferencing system and says that it is ready for operation.

Judge Diachuk notes that the tribunal at the November session 24 will decide the issue of changing the order of examination of evidence and on questioning shortly Yanukovych and former Commander of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Stanyslav Shuliak via video link.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Justice on August 16 again sent Russia a request for questioning Yanukovych via video link some of the documents in the first request were missing.

In May, the Sviatoshynskyi District Court of Kyiv decided to question Yanukovych via video link in the case against five former Berkut special company staff charged with slaughtering 48 EuroMaidan activists in Instytutska Street in Kyiv on February 20, 2014.

The Justice Ministry sent the first request to Russia in June.
