Defense Of Sushchenko Arrested In Russia Expect Exchange Of Ukrainian Journalist For Russian Spy Seized In Ukraine

The defense team of the Ukrinform national information agency's journalist Roman Sushchenko, who is detained in Russia, predicts his exchange for a Russian spy arrested in Ukraine.

Mark Feygin wrote this in his microblog in Twitter, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"I have just visited Suchenko in Lefortovo [prison]. We are expecting the Kremlin to authorize the exchange of Sushchenko for Viktor Pavlenko arrested in Rivne on 8 October 2016," he wrote.

The Security Service of Ukraine has reported they arrested an agent of the GRU of the general staff of the Russian Federation on suspicion of espionage in Rivne on October 8.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Members of the European Parliament have asked the European Union's High Representative Federica Mogherini to facilitate release of the Ukrinform national information agency's journalist Roman Sushchenko, who is detained in Russia.

The Federal Service of Security of the Russian Federation suspects journalist Roman Sushchenko of the Ukrinform national news agency of espionage.
