The State Enterprise "Production Association Yuzhny Machine-Building Plant named after A.M. Makarov" (Yuzhmash) intends to load two first stages of РН Antares rocket for the United States in the near future. Yuzhmash announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports. "October 27 the first stage of the launch vehicle was sheathed and loaded on a railway platform. Thus, the first stage of the contractual obligations fulfilled exactly on time. The next step - the following product. At the same time in the assembly department the work is continuing on the installation of systems in the basic design of the first stage, which is to be definitively collected up to the end of November. It is planned that in the near future at once two rockets will [be] delivered to the Nikolaev port [Mykolaiv maritime merchant port] for shipment to the launch site," reads the statement. The statement reads that a group of American experts from the company "Orbital" arrived on 25 October to audit the two products of the basic design of the first stage (BDFS) on the Antares program. "The specialists of Orbital examined the products at the final stage before shipment, inspected the process of loading onto the railway platform, and got acquainted with the course of performance of work on the next product," reads the statement. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the core of the first stage of the Antares rocket was designed by the Yuzhnoye design bureau and manufactured by Yuzhmash in conjunction with the Ukrainian enterprises Hartron-Arkos (Kharkiv), Kyivprylad (Kyiv), Hartron-Ucom (Zaporizhia), CheZaRa and Rapid (Chernihiv) and others. Orbital ATK launched an Antares rocket with a first stage produced by Yuzhnoye in the early hours of October 18, 2016 (Kyiv time) to deliver supplies to the International Space Station. On November 17, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law to write off UAH 400 million of the debt of Yuzhmash for consumed electricity.
