NACB Serves Ex-Aviation Administration Head, UIA President And Chief Accountant Notices Of Suspicion Of Embezzlement Of Property

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NACB) has served a former head of the State Aviation Administration, President and Chief Accountant of the private company Ukraine International Airlines (UIA; Kyiv) notices of suspicion of embezzlement of property.

Ukrainian News Agency learned this from an NACB's statement.

On November 10, the Chief Detective Subdivision prepared the notices and sent them to the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office for approval.

In 2014 and 2015, the pre-trial investigation has established, UIA leadership in association with the Aviation Administration officials misappropriated funds of the State Specialised Fund for financing national-level expenses on aviation operations and Ukraine's participation in international aviation organisations on an especially large scale.

In particular, UIA charged fees that all airlines must pay to the Fund but never transferred them to the recipient.

Over the two years they stole UAH 147 million.

The above persons face 7-12 years in prison with confiscation of property and deprivation of the right to occupy determined posts or to engage in a determined activity for up to three years.

UIA President is Yurii Miroshnykov and former head of the Aviation Administration Denys Antoniuk previously was working at UIA.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the NACB conducted searches in UIA offices in June.
