The International Monetary Fund (IMF) believes that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NACB) should verify the information in the electronic declarations filed by Ukrainian public officials.

The IMF's Director of Communications Gerry Rice announced this at a news briefing, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to him, the introduction of electronic declaration is a significant progress for Ukraine.

At the same time, Rice said that NACB should verify the relevant declarations and bring concrete cases to court.

However, the IMF representative said that the fight against corruption, the cleanup of the banking system, and tax reform remained important reform issues for Ukraine.

The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption's head Natalia Korchak recently said that the International Monetary Fund believed that Ukrainian officials hid part of their assets and did not include them in their electronic declarations.

According to Korchak, the IMF has seen some inconsistencies in the declarations of some Ukrainian senior officials, particularly the absence of properties about which the international media reported earlier.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the IMF is awaiting the outcome of the work of its mission to Ukraine before making a decision on disbursement of the next loan tranche to the country.
