Russia Calls Sanctions Against Six MPs Elected In Crimea Collective Punishment Of Crimean Population For Free Exercise Of Choice

Russia says the sanctions against six deputies of the State Duma of Russia elected in the Crimea represent collective punishment of the population of the region for free exercise of choice.

The press service of the foreign ministry of Russia gave the position, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The Russian foreign ministry says the restrictions against the deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation will not facilitate restoration of a proper dialogue between the parliaments of Russia and the European Union.

The Russian foreign ministry says Russia will take some reciprocal measures.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the EU Council has added six members of the State Duma of Russia elected in the Crimea annexed by Russia to the list of people and entities involved in activities against the territorial integrity of Ukraine and subject to sanctions.
