MP Novinsky Says Criminal Proceedings Against Him Completely Fabricated

Parliamentary Deputy Vadim Novinsky of the Opposition Bloc faction has said that the criminal proceedings that Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko announced against him were completely fabricated by investigators.

Novinsky stated this to reporters on the sidelines of the parliament, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"This accusation is completely fabricated on the basis of the testimony of a single person," he said.

According to Novinsky, he is not afraid that the parliament will lift his immunity and he is ready for such a decision by the parliament.

In addition, according to the parliamentary deputy, he does not intend to leave the country and he is willing to cooperate with investigators.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Opposition Bloc parliamentary faction has described Lutsenko request for parliamentary permission to prosecute Novinsky as political persecution.

Lutsenko has asked the parliament to authorize criminal prosecution of Novinsky.
