Cabinet Enables Issuance Of ID Cards For All Citizens Starting November

The Cabinet of Ministers has enabled issuance of ID cards for all citizens starting November 1.

Ukrainian News Agency learned this from Government Resolution 745 of October 26.

Until now, ID cards were issued only to citizens who receive their first passport.

Ukrainian passports can be issued in the book form until the full provision of the territorial subdivisions of the State Migration Service with the material and technical resources for the execution and issuance of ID cards.

Acceptance of documents for issuing Ukrainian passports that do not contain contactless electronic media stops on November 1.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian passports that do not contain contactless electronic media, executed and issued on basis of documents submitted before November 1, are valid hold throughout the period for which it was issued.

Citizens are entitled to receive passports at the age of 14.

For persons who have reached the age of 18 it shall be issued for 10 years and for those who have not for four years.

Passports can be obtained at administrative services centres.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Migration Service has issued 174,244 ID cards.

The Service has capacities for issuing ID cards at 330 out of its 600 subdivisions.

In August, President Petro Poroshenko signed the law enabling issuance of Ukrainian passports to citizens at the age of 14, and also regulating provision of ID cards that confirm identity or special status.
