Rada Cancels Increase Of MPs' Salaries

The Verkhovna Rada has cancelled the increase of the parliamentary members' salaries.

Draft Resolution 5323 received votes of 264 Members of Parliament, while 226 votes enough for approval, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In particular, they have eliminated clauses 3 and 4 from the resolution "On conclusions and proposals to the draft law on the national budget for 2017," adopted on October 20. concerning remuneration of the deputies' labor.

Clause 3 cancelled two previous decisions on the funding of the legislators' work, and Clause 4 tied MPs' salaries to the rate of the minimum pay.

So, MPs' salaries shall remain where they were.

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy's wage was UAH 20,200 in September, First Deputy Speaker Iryna Heraschenko's UAH 19,700, and Deputy Speaker Oksana Syroyid's UAH 18,600.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Speaker on October 31 signed Resolution 5000-P raising the salary attached to the Parliament Speaker position starting November 1 to 30 floor wages (UAH 43,500; UAH 48,000 from December 1), to the positions of First Deputy Speaker and Speaker to 28 floor wages (UAH 40,600; UAH 44,800 from December 1) and to the positions of MPs-committee members to 25 floor wages (UAH 36,250; UAH 40,000 from December 1).
