President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko says the Netherlands will continue consultations on ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union although November 1 was the deadline for such consultations following the referendum in the Netherlands.

President Petro Poroshenko announced this on his page in Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"We have managed to remove the danger, which seemed inevitable yesterday. The end date for consultations on ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union following the referendum in the Netherlands was November 1. A lot of skeptics, and not only in Ukraine, expected that today it would be announced about a decision to stop the ratification of the agreement by the Netherlands," he wrote.

Poroshenko noted that the Netherlands would continue the consultations and would not stop the ratification.

President Poroshenko recalled that he had had negotiations with partners from the European Union, including with European Council President Donald Tusk, European Parliament President Martin Schulz, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, and Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin does not rule out that the Netherlands may postpone looking for a solution regarding unblocking the ratification of the Association Agreement between the European Union and Ukraine until after elections set for 15 March 2017.
