October 24, officers of the State Border Guard Service seized 11.8kg of amber which an aide to a member of the Sejm of Poland tried to smuggle in his car through the checkpoint Krakovets in Lviv Region. Oleh Slobodian, an aide to the chairman of the State Border Guard Service \/ chief of the press service, announced this via Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports. He says the Pole presented a letter from the MP to the law enforcers but the frontier guards sent the car for a detailed examination. Eventually, the frontier and customs group found 2,430 packs of cigarettes and 11.8kg of unpolished amber in cavities under the back seats and in the baggage compartment. The law enforcers confiscated the car and the cigarettes; investigatory actions continue. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 24, the State Fiscal Service staff seized 3.6kg of amber, hidden in a spare wheel of a car, from a citizen of Ukraine who was trying to smuggle it via the checkpoint Rava-Ruska in Lviv Region.
