The Jan De Nul Group, one of the largest European contractors, believes that the cancellation of the tender for reconstruction of the approach channels from the sea and inland waters to the deep-water berths of the Pivdennyi seaport (Odesa region) is a manifestation of the Ukrainian government's unfriendliness to European businesses.
The group stated this in an appeal to Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, a text of which Ukrainian News obtained.
The Jan De Nul Group stressed that the group has constantly come under public attack, the source of which is not clear, since its Ukrainian subsidiary was selected as the contractor for the dredging work at the seaport.
The management of the Jan De Nul Group also expressed its readiness to visit Ukraine to personally provide to Groysman any necessary explanations, comments, or details that could completely eliminate all doubt about the Ukrainian subsidiary of the group.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Pivdennyi seaport believes that the selection of the Jan De Nul Ukraine company to reconstruct and dredge the approach channel was in line with the relevant legal norms.
However, Groysman has instructed the Ukrainian Port Authority to cancel the tender for reconstruction of the approach channels from the sea and inland waters to the deep-water berths of the Pivdennyi seaport, which was organized based on the old procedure, and organize a new tender through the ProZorro electronic public procurement system.
