Internal Affairs Minister Arsen Avakov is on a working trip to Tokyo, Japan, he has told Ukrainian News Agency.

He did not tell for how long will the business trip be lasting.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Avakov’s visit to Japan started on October 24.

“During four days, the minister will have meetings with Chairman of the Japan National Public Safety Commission Jun Matsumoto, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Nobuo Kishi and Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency Kenichi Tomiyoshi,” it said.

Avakov plans to visit several police stations.

During the trip, the minister will also have meetings with representatives of international non-government organisations and business executives.

Before, Avakov wrote on Twitter that the Ukrainian MoIA is studying Japan’s experience in managing police forces.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Japan has donated 1,600 police cars to Ukraine since October 2015.
