The Cabinet of Ministers has appointed Poland’s former transport minister Slawomir Nowak as a new acting head of State Motor Roads Agency Ukravtodor.

The Government made this decision at a session, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Previously, Nowak was Minister of Transport, Construction and Marine Economy of Poland from 2011 to 2013. He stepped down after the row around his alleged failure to disclose ownership of a USD 6,600 Ulysse Nardin wristwatch.

He is also Member of the Polish Sejm. He was responsible for Poland’s transport plans and investments during the preparation for EURO 2012.

Nowak finds it necessary to set up the Road Fund as soon as possible, to draw a plan of construction and rehabilitation of motor roads based on traffic analysis, to adopt international standards for Ukravtodor tenders and contracts.

In his words, it is also necessary to draft concession of motor roads.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman is dissatisfied with how Ukravtodor is getting ready for winter.

Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian observes obstruction of the operation of the e-system of government purchases ProZorro by separate Ukravtodor and Ukrzaliznytsia officials.
