Lutsenko Asks EU To Send Forensic Experts To Assist In Investigating Odesa Tragic Events Of May 2, 2014

Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko has called on the European Union to send forensic experts to assist in investigating the tragic events that took place in Odesa on May 2, 2014.

The press service of the Prosecutor-General’s Office announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the statement, Lutsenko met with the head of the European Union’s Delegation to Ukraine, Hugues Mingarelli, on Monday.

"The prosecutor general requested assistance in attracting international crime experts to conduct independent expert examinations aimed at establishing the causes of death of the victims of the tragedy in the Trade Union House in Odesa on May 2, 2014," the statement said.

Mingarelli expressed gratitude for the information provided by the leadership of the Prosecutor-General’s Office and assured Lutsenko of his readiness to provide the necessary assistance to Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Odesa regional prosecutor’s office has announced that former first deputy governor of the Odesa region Oleksandr Orlov is suspected of involvement in the riots that took place in Odesa in February 2014.
