Venice Commission Deems Political Corruption In Ukraine Diminished After EuroMaidan

The European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) thinks that the political corruption in Ukraine has diminished after EuroMaidan.

President of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio said this during an international conference on constitutional law, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Buquicchio calls corruption at the courts one of the main problems in Ukraine.

He also praised the entry into force of the constitutional amendments as it pertains public justice.

The Venice Commission also welcomes the disestablishment of specialized courts, establishment of the Higher Council of Public Justice instead of the Higher Council of Justice, and raising judges' wages.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Venice Commission welcomed the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of the draft constitutional amendments as it pertains public justice.
