Russian Court Orders Two-Month Arrest Of Ukrainian Journalist Suschenko

A court in Russia has ordered a two-month arrest of Ukrainian journalist of the Ukrinform national news agency Roman Suschenko.

This is said in a statement by the TASS Russian news agency, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"A court in Moscow has sanctioned arrest of Roman Suschenko for the period of two months," reads the statement.

TASS refers to an informed source.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Federal Service of Security of the Russian Federation suspects journalist Roman Suschenko of the Ukrinform national news agency of espionage.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Information Policy Ministry are finding out circumstances of the arrest of Ukrinform journalist Roman Suschenko in Russia.

The Ukrinform news agency called the arrest of journalist Roman Suschenko a provocation.

Mark Feygin intended to demand a meeting with journalist Roman Suschenko in the morning of Monday. According to Russian media reports, Ukrinform journalist Roman Suschenko is held in the Lefortovo remand prison in Moscow.
