Russian law enforcement agencies have arrested Mykola Makarenko, former head of the Kyiv city office of the State Automobile Inspectorate of Ukraine, at the Domodedovo airport outside Moscow. Makarenko is internationally wanted on suspicion of corruption. A source in the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Ukraine told this to Ukrainian News. "He was hiding in Yalta (the annexed Crimea) and then went to Moscow (Russia) and he wanted to fly somewhere. He was arrested in Domodedovo," said the source. The source said Mykola Makarenko was arrested for extradition. According to the source, Mykola Makarenko offered a bribe to Russian officers for releasing him. On September 23, the Kyiv Pecherskyi District Court ordered Ukrainian law enforcement agencies to arrest Mykola Makarenko. Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are preparing documents required for extradition of Makarenko to Ukraine. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in April 2015 Ukrainian police declared Makarenko wanted on suspicion of corruption.
