Cabinet Troubled With Rada Protracting Alignment Of Legislation With EU Requirements

The Cabinet of Ministers is troubled with the Verkhovna Rada protracting the alignment of the legislation with the European Union requirements.

Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze announced this during the hour of questions to the Cabinet of Ministers at the Verkhovna Rada, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

At the moment, 56 bills are under consideration with the Rada that would guarantee fulfillment of the obligation and approximation to the European Union law.

The Vice PM plans to address Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy soon with an official letter indicating the legislative acts Ukraine must adopt before November 1, the expiry of the two-year term of the provisional application of the Association Agreement with the EU.

November 1 is the deadline for Ukraine to put into practice 48 EU directives, regulations and two conventions.

Before October 10, the Government plans to consider, approve and send to the Rada for consideration additional regulatory legal acts necessary to fulfill the obligations of approximating Ukraine's legislation to the EU under the association requirements.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, have agreed to hold a meeting of the Ukraine - EU association council before the end of 2016.

The previous meeting took place December 7, 2015.

November 1, 2014 the Ukraine - EU AA was partially put into effect on a temporary basis.

The part of the AA concerning trade and related issues was put into effect January 1, 2016.
