IMF Managing Director Lagarde Urges Ukrainian Authorities To Continue Economic Reforms

Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde urges Ukrainian authorities to continue the economic reforms in the country.

Ukrainian News Agency learned this from an IMF's statement.

«IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde met on September 21 with President Petro Poroshenko in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings. During the meeting, they discussed recent economic developments and the Managing Director strongly encourages continued implementation of the authorities' economic reform program supported by the IMF,» it reads.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the IMF has decided to disburse a third tranche of USD 1 billion for Ukraine under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) programme.

Now, the total amount provided to Ukraine is round USD 7.62 billion.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) expects the next IMF tranche in the amount of USD 1.3 billion.
