IMF To Consider On Wednesday Allocation Of USD 1 Billion Tranche To Ukraine Within EFF

IMF To Consider On Wednesday Allocation Of USD 1 Billion Tranche To Ukraine Within EFF

On Wednesday, September 14, the International Monetary Fund will consider the issue of allocation of another tranche of USD 1 billion to Ukraine within Extended Fund Facility (EFF) programme.

The issue has been included in the agenda of the meeting of the IMF's Executive Board, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In case of a positive decision on allocation of the tranche to Ukraine the funds will channeled within 2-3 days.

Following the tranche of the IMF Ukraine will get by the end of September 2016 USD 1 billion in state guarantees from the government of the United States and EUR 600 million from the European Commission. The allocation of the funds is also linked to the EFF.

The National Bank of Ukraine expects the IMF to allocate to Ukraine one more tranche for USD 1.3 billion in 2016.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the IMF opened a four-year Extended Fund Facility (EFF) programme of USD 17 billion for Ukraine in March 2015.

In 2015, Ukraine received USD 6.52 billion (two tranches instead of four).

In 2016, the allocation of funds has been postponed several times. After the formation of the new government of Ukraine a mission of the International Monetary Fund arrived in Ukraine in May (it worked May 10-18).

After the work of the mission the National Bank of Ukraine said there would be three tranches in 2016 and the first of them would be in July 2016.

In July Ukraine was not on the agenda of meetings of the Executive Board of the IMF and the National Bank of Ukraine said Ukraine could get only two tranches for a total sum of USD 2.3 billion by the end of 2016.

When the e-declaration of incomes of officials was commissioned in Ukraine in mid August 2016 the International Monetary Fund included Ukraine in the agenda of meetings and set the date of considering the question of allocation of the tranche for September 14, 2016.
