Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov has plans to engage the Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM) of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in the observation of the RF embassy in Kyiv on the day of parliamentary election, September 18.

Ukrainian News Agency learned this from a statement made by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

On September 12, Lavrov spoke by phone with Foreign Minister of Germany and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

«The ministers discussed various aspects of the situation in Ukraine, including strengthening the ceasefire regime within the zone of Ukraine's domestic conflict. They also touched upon some issues concerning Ukraine's commitment to ensuring the security of Russian diplomatic and consular offices in Ukraine, specifically in the context of the upcoming Russian State Duma elections on September 18. Sergey Lavrov suggested involving the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine for proper monitoring of the situation at the Russian Embassy in Kiev and at general consulates in Lvov, Odessa and Kharkov, on election day,» it reads.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ambassador Martin Sajdik, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in Ukraine and Lavrov on September 8 discussed the settlement of the crisis in Ukraine.
