Rada Calls On Foreign Parliaments, Organisations Refrain From Observation Of Election For RF State Duma In Crimea

The Verkhovna Rada has addressed foreign parliaments and international organisations with a request to refrain from participation in the observation of the course of the election for the State Duma of Russia on September 18 in the territory of the Russia-occupied Crimea.

Draft resolution No.5075 received votes of 269 Members of Parliament, while 226 votes enough for approval, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The Rada also addressed foreign parliaments and organisations with a request not to recognise State Duma elections in Crimea.

The resolution underlines that Ukrainian law-enforcers will open criminal proceedings in respect of all foreigners who will visit Crimea to participate in the observation of the elections for the breach of rules of entry in the temporarily occupied territory.

Moreover, the Rada called on foreign parliaments to publish official statements on illegitimacy of recognition of elections for the State Duma in Crimea.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine calls on the citizens of Ukraine who stay in the territory of Crimea not to take part in elections of deputies of the State Duma of Russia.
