A foreign merchant ship, which russian troops attacked with missiles on July 19, sank near the coast of Odesa on July 26.
This was announced by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration Oleh Kiper on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
He informed that a russian missile hit the merchant ship on July 19 at the exit from the port after it was loaded with Ukrainian corn.
At that time, nine crew members and a Ukrainian bargeman were killed as a result of the strike, and eight more crew members were evacuated.
On July 26, when the ship finally sank, there were no more people on board.
The head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration stated that russia is deliberately striking civilian ships and creating a threat to the safety of maritime transport.
"The enemy has once again demonstrated that it is deliberately attacking civilian shipping and endangering people's lives and the safety of maritime transport. The attack on a civilian vessel carrying peaceful cargo is yet another proof of the terrorist nature of the aggressor country," Kiper emphasized.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the deterioration of the security situation in the Black Sea led to a temporary halt in the entry of ships to Ukrainian ports. At the same time, Ukraine did not impose any restrictions on shipping, and the decision was made by the shipowners themselves.
