President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the main task of the new leadership of the Ukrainian army will be to strengthen mobilization and improve interaction between the Ministry of Defense and the military command. He also called strengthening air defense one of the priorities.
The head of state said this in an interview with Sky News.
According to Zelenskyy, in the fall, Ukraine may face a new wave of pressure from russia. The President noted that, according to available information, by October, the russian army may be replenished with approximately 500,000 more soldiers. At the same time, russia officially denies plans for a new mobilization.
"The main challenge is mobilization. We need a new approach, new steps. Maybe not very fast and not radical, but to find a way to do it, I need unity between the Ministry of Defense and the military command," the President said.
Zelenskyy also explained that the lack of proper interaction between the leadership of the defense department and the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was one of the reasons for the personnel changes. According to him, over the past few months there have been communication problems between Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and the then Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi.
The President called strengthening air defense another key area of work for the new leadership. He emphasized that Ukraine is experiencing a shortage of systems and missiles to intercept air targets.
"I don't have time to listen to one side first and then the other. These two sides should meet not every day, but every hour until our skies are protected. I shouldn't find out who is right and who is wrong," Zelenskyy stressed.
Recall that Zelenskyy updated the targets for deep strikes on russia with Drapatyi and Khmara.
