Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has been offered a new position abroad. Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto invited Fedorov to serve as his advisor.
The Italian official also praised Fedorov’s contribution to the development of military innovations.
It was reported by Reuters, citing an interview Crosetto gave to La Repubblica.
As noted, the former Ukrainian defense minister received the offer to serve as Crosetto’s advisor immediately after his dismissal.
“I called him the day after his dismissal and said: When do you want to come to Rome and work with me as an adviser?’” said the Italian minister.
Responding to a question about Fedorov’s reaction, Crosetto said that Fedorov was genuinely touched by his offer and took it as a sign of respect.
The Italian minister also highly praised Fedorov’s role in the development of modern military technologies, noting that Fedorov was one of the key figures who fundamentally changed approaches to warfare.
Initially, Fedorov helped Ukraine effectively resist the russian invasion, and later he managed to seize the initiative on the battlefield by implementing innovative technological solutions.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Fedorov had stated the day before that he would not accept any other position except to once again head Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense.
He rejected other offers from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to Fedorov, his team took the helm of the military department with a concrete plan already in place.
Earlier, Zelenskyy had also offered Mykhailo Fedorov the position of Deputy Prime Minister for Military Innovation.
According to the head of state, the new position is intended to ensure coordination between the military leadership, the Ministry of Defense, and the defense technology sector.
