A fire broke out in Tyumen following a drone attack on the grounds of the Tyumen Oil Refinery.
Aleksandr Moor, the governor of the Tyumen Oblast, has reported this.
“As a result of the UAV attack, an enemy drone crashed on the grounds of the Tyumen Oil Refinery. A fire broke out. Emergency response specialists are working at the scene. I am personally monitoring the situation,” Moor wrote on his Telegram channel.
The distance from Ukraine to Tyumen is nearly 2,000 km.
Local residents are posting footage of the aftermath of the attack on social media. Video footage shows thick plumes of black smoke rising above the refinery grounds. Judging by the published footage, at least two fires broke out at the facility.
The Tyumen Oil Refinery is considered russia’s largest independent oil refinery. Its design capacity is 7.5 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The facility produces Euro 5-compliant diesel fuel, gasoline, petroleum coke, bitumen, and fuel oil.
The refinery is owned by Ri-Invest LLC, which is controlled by businessman Anatoly Yablonsky. According to publicly available financial statements, in 2023 the company’s revenue totaled RUB 260.5 billion, and its net profit was RUB 21.5 billion, compared to RUB 232.7 billion and RUB 5.3 billion, respectively, a year earlier. Data for 2024–2025 has not yet been published.
Andrii Kovalenko, the head of the National Security and Defense Council’s Center for Countering Disinformation, also posted a message: “Tyumen, hits, oil refinery, nice.”
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 20 in the Tyumen Oblast of the russian federation, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces had already struck the Tyumen Oil Refinery (“Antipinsky”). Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed at the time the successful use of modernized Ukrainian long-range Fire Point drones against the Tyumen Oil Refinery, located more than 2,000 km from the border.
