Billionaire Elon Musk stated that he does not consider the scenario of a complete withdrawal of russian troops from the occupied territories of Ukraine to be realistic.
In his view, to end the war, the parties need to seek a “pragmatic” peace agreement.
Musk made these remarks in an interview with the influential publication The Economist.
He noted that the front lines have not changed significantly over the past two to three years, yet the fighting continues to claim many lives. Musk stated that this scenario must not be allowed to continue for several more years.
“I think there is a lot of wishful thinking here when people say that Russia must completely withdraw its troops and so on, but that is unrealistic. I really believe that some, you know, pragmatic approach is needed,” he said.
The billionaire also criticized diplomats who, he said, are discussing the possibility of a complete withdrawal of the russian army while people continue to die on the front lines.
"Russia is not going to withdraw its troops. So it is truly necessary to reach some mutually acceptable peace solution based on such an approach," Musk added.
In the same interview, as the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the billionaire revealed that russian military personnel were receiving Starlink terminals through smuggling. According to him, the devices were ordered via Ukraine and then illegally transported to the occupied territories for use by russian units.
To shut down these terminals, SpaceX, in collaboration with Ukrainian authorities, created a “whitelist” of verified devices.
