Oleksii, the son of former Ukrainian Defense Minister and former Member of Parliament Anatolii Hrytsenko, was at an arms exhibition at a military training ground near Kyiv, which was struck by russian invaders’ missiles on July 24.
Oleksii Anatoliiovych is alive but wounded and is currently in the hospital.
Oleksii himself and his sister, Svitlana, reported this online. Svitlana also clarified that her brother’s condition is stable.
Oleksii Hrytsenko posted a brief update about himself.
“Friends, I’m not on the phone right now. I’m alive. That’s the main thing. My condolences to the families of those who died,” he wrote online.
Svitlana clarified that her brother was wounded at a military training ground near Kyiv during an arms exhibition.
“His condition is stable now. Treatment and recovery lie ahead. The doctors are taking good care of him, for which I sincerely thank them,” she noted, and also thanked everyone for their support, concern, and kind words.
“Everything will be fine. There are still many achievements ahead,” she said confidently.
Oleksii Hrytsenko is a former member of the Kyiv City Council (sixth convocation), one of the organizers of “Automaidan,” and the son of former Member of Parliament Anatolii Hrytsenko. He was born in October 1979 in Okhtyrka (Sumy Region).
Oleksii is best known for being one of the initiators of “Automaidan” in 2013. As a result, in 2014, a case was opened against him under Part 2 of Article 294 of the Criminal Code—“Organization of Mass Disturbances.”
In 2014, Oleksii became a member of the Kyiv City Council, where he served as deputy chair of the Standing Committee on Transport and Communications. And in 2016, he headed the Public Oversight Council at the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).
Until 2021, Oleksii remained chairman of the NGO “Automaidan,” and in 2021, he became a member of the organization’s board. That same year, he became an advisor to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko—specifically, an advisor on environmental issues.
It should be noted that it was Oleksii who, in 2023, initiated an appeal to the president demanding the restoration of transparency regarding asset declarations by lawmakers and officials.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on Friday, July 24, russia launched a missile strike on the Kyiv Region. Unfortunately, the attack killed 10 people and injured about 100.

The russian strike occurred during the Defense Demo Day & Defense Expo, an event organized in the Kyiv Region by ARMADA, the Ukrainian Association of Unmanned Systems Manufacturers. The event was dedicated to showcasing cutting-edge technologies for the Ukrainian defense sector and brought together representatives from the defense industry, the military, and technology companies from various countries.
