The stairs on Philharmonic Square in Chernivtsi have been renovated using granite slabs bearing the images of the deceased. City Council member Yana Brus reported this on Facebook.
Brus posted photos and stated that local authorities used granite from a cemetery to repair the stairs on Philharmonic Square.
"Yes, it's true! The stairs on Philharmonic Square were renovated using granite slabs bearing the images of the deceased… By today’s standards, this didn’t cost the city budget all that much—just UAH 190,000,” the councilwoman wrote.
Brus also posted a video showing what the renovated stairs look like.
The Department of Infrastructure and Public Works of the Chernivtsi City Council stated that it would thoroughly investigate all the circumstances of this situation and openly inform the community of the results.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in Kryvyi Rih, two officials dismantled over 1,000 boilers from heating stations, sold them for scrap metal, and left half the city without hot water.
