Oleksandr Shvets, founder and editor-in-chief of the "Fakty" publication, stated that an unknown man assaulted his eldest daughter in downtown Kyiv. He also claims that the police did not respond to the call, despite his requests.
Shvets reported this on his Facebook page on Sunday, July 19.
According to him, the incident occurred a few days ago on Lesi Ukrainky Boulevard, near the “Parus” business center. His daughter was standing at a public transit stop, waiting for a bus.
“This time, among those waiting for the bus was a gray-haired man in his 60s. Everyone here knew him. He regularly walks to the church on the grounds of the Oleksandrivska City Hospital carrying some large bags, and then returns to that same bus stop to go somewhere. And people knew him because there wasn’t a single instance when he didn’t insult someone or pick on defenseless women for no reason,” Shvets wrote.
The man shoved Shvets’ daughter in the back, causing her to nearly fall. After that, he punched her in the face. Several passersby confronted him, and a man standing nearby reportedly tried to stop the attacker, but his wife warned him: "You don’t know what’s there in this attacker’s head—or maybe even in his pocket."
The victim called the police. They called her back 20 minutes later and suggested she go home, since the patrol officers wouldn’t be coming, but they assured her they would definitely find the attacker.
Shvets noted that the police had many urgent cases to handle and didn’t have time to respond to a call from a victim who had been beaten in the center of the capital.
"It should be noted that impunity breeds lawlessness. And the next time that same hooligan commits an act of violence against a relative of an indifferent (or ‘very busy’) police officer, they should remember how it all began,” he wrote.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in March of this year in Kyiv, a man beat his seven-month-old dog in a park because the animal had picked up a foreign object from the ground. An administrative report was filed against the owner.
As a reminder, in December 2025, in the Lviv Region, a 25-year-old man beat a soldier who was undergoing rehabilitation and then filmed on his phone as the soldier was being mocked.
