German police have detained a 37-year-old Moldovan citizen on suspicion of launching a drone over the territory of a German arms company.

This was reported by Reuters, citing sources.

The detainee is suspected of filming defense facilities for the benefit of a foreign organization or a banned group, unnamed officials told the publication.

The Munich prosecutor's office said it had received a warrant for the man's arrest and that police initially detained him on July 15 after receiving information from the public. The detainee's name was not released.

A security source named the defense company as KNDS, a Franco-German defense concern that produces the Leopard 2 tank and the Caesar howitzer.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the European Union has meanwhile announced expanded sanctions against the aggressor country of russia for deadly air attacks on Kyiv. The sanctions list includes russian companies involved in the production of strike drones.
