On the night of July 15–16, a series of explosions rocked the russian cities of Saratov and Engels. Local residents reported a large number of drones flying overhead and air defense systems in operation.

It was reported by russian Telegram channels and the publication Astra.

According to these sources, a large number of drones were spotted over the Saratov Oblast. Videos have also appeared online in which the sounds of drones and explosions can be heard.

Preliminary reports suggest that one of the targets of the attack may have been the Engels military airbase, where russia’s strategic air force is stationed.

It is worth noting that the Engels Air Base in the Saratov Oblast has been the target of drone attacks on multiple occasions. It is from this airfield that russian strategic bombers regularly carry out combat sorties and launch missiles at Ukrainian territory.
