Cybersecurity experts and investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) have detained another FSB agent. The suspect was gathering coordinates for a new series of russian missile and drone attacks on the Kyiv and Cherkasy Regions. This is stated in an SSU report.

According to the SSU, the enemy’s primary “targets” included energy infrastructure, specifically key power substations that supply most of both regions. The suspect also attempted to identify and transmit to the FSB the geolocations of logistics depots and combat positions of the Ukrainian air defense forces.

“SSU officers exposed the agent in advance, documented his crimes, and detained him at his residence in the Kyiv Region, law enforcement officials noted.

The investigation revealed that a local employee of one of the region’s agricultural companies, who had been recruited by the invaders, was responsible for directing enemy fire. He came to the attention of the russian intelligence service while searching for “easy” money on Telegram channels.

Law enforcement officials determined that during a trip to visit relatives in the Cherkasy Region, the suspect identified potential “targets” and marked their locations on Google Maps to pass the information on to the FSB.

During a search of the detainee’s residence, security service agents seized a smartphone containing evidence of his messaging exchanges with an FSB handler.

Investigators from the SSU’s Main Investigation Directorate notified the agent that he was suspected of high treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The suspect is being held in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the SSU detained an “agent of influence” whom russian special services planned to place in a top position within Ukrainian government agencies.
