US Central Command states that the Strait of Hormuz is open to all vessels intending to transit it lawfully. This is according to a post by Central Command on X (Twitter).

“The Strait of Hormuz is open to all vessels seeking to lawfully transit the international waterway <...> Traffic is flowing,” CENTCOM stated.

They also added that US armed forces are present in the area and ready to ensure freedom of navigation, despite “unwarranted Iranian aggression, harassment, threats, and arbitrary declarations” from Iran.

At the same time, the US military stated that Iran does not control shipping in the strait.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on Friday, July 10, the American publication Axios wrote, citing sources, that the US is demanding that Iran publicly announce the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

The day before, on July 9, media outlets reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump was preparing for a possible weeks-long standoff with Iran over the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

We also reported that the US had revoked a previously granted license allowing Iran to sell oil and receive payment for it in dollars.
