In the occupied Crimea, some gas stations have begun selling fuel at prices as high as RUB 380 per liter. The online publication “Agentstvo” reports this, citing residents of the peninsula.

The publication reports that a car mechanic named Arseniy from Simferopol wrote about the high prices at gas stations on his blog. He posted a video in which he explained that for RUB 2,700, he was able to fill up with only seven liters of 95-octane gasoline. In the video, he showed the meters on the gas pumps. The footage shows that both 92-octane and 95-octane gasoline are selling for RUB 380 per liter.

A liter of gasoline is more expensive than a liter of milk. More expensive than vodka. So does that mean we can run our cars on alcohol? It’s enough to drive you crazy,” the man said in the video.

Journalists contacted the man. According to him, he went to the gas station last Tuesday, July 7, after hearing that there were no lines there and decided to check it out.

Arseniy told the “Agentstvo” that the price of gasoline at gas stations belonging to the peninsula’s largest chains, TES and ATAN, had reached RUB 190 per liter. However, each gas station receives a limited amount of fuel, so not everyone who wants to fill up is able to do so.

The “Agentstvo” notes that last Saturday, July 11, the price of 95-octane gasoline reached RUB 269 per liter at ATAN gas stations in Simferopol and Feodosia. The day before, these stations were selling gasoline at RUB 255 per liter. At the beginning of the month, the price of fuel was RUB 215.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 1, russian media reported a significant increase in fuel prices at gas stations in occupied Crimea. The price had nearly tripled compared to April of this year, when gasoline was selling for just under RUB 80 per liter.
